Hello! I’m Chris Katon, former journalist and political speech writer turned professional soup taster and wine cellar tour guide.
For 25 years I have juggled duel careers as a professional writer and restaurant operations manager.
My writing career began as a reporter on our school newspaper, typing stories on our old typewriter with a worn correction ribbon and a sticky letter ‘j’. I have worked as general staff reporter, features writer, travel writer, SEO writer, Blogger, Content Manager and Media Relations Manager.
My restaurant career includes stops as General Manager of Legal Sea Foods in Boston, Owner of Aqua Grille & Lounge on Hilton Head Island and Director of Restaurants at Sea Pines Resort.
Today, I’m enjoying my consultant position helping new start-ups get off the ground and training new managers. I offer comprehensive management and hourly training programs, easy to replicate management systems and assistance in problem solving restaurant operations challenges.
I’m also a freelance travel columnist and features writer specializing in hospitality, travel and tourism. Contributing Writer for Cape Cod Outdoors, Falmouth Publishing Company, Hilton Head Monthly Magazine and The Bluffton Sun.

Polly and I live in Bluffton, SC with our four children, two dogs, two guinea pigs, two fish and a cat.
